"Sad day and I am sure there is more to tell, any ideas Dibbs"
Well, I dunno, Jim. I've never really been into dogs, never had one in fact. But it seems to me that dogs (particularly aggressive dogs) and young children are not a satisfactory mix. It seems stupid and negligent to let a dog anywhere near a baby or toddler however 'soft' or friendly they might seem (but of course it seems this was a very chavy estate). It's difficult enough trying to predict the behaviour of humans, but a dog's primeval hunting instincts could be triggered and re-surface at any moment. A dog does not have the moral or social inhibitions that humans (particularly in western, first world, society) generally have against deliberately attacking another. The fact that the grandfather of the baby and his partner were attacked and stabbed (one to death) half an hour later is very suspicious indeed (even those knobheads on Eastenders don?t have lives as event packed as that!).
One thing about Rotweilers and the like, though Jim ? they'd be great for sticking on any chavs, pikeys or neds who might be trespassing on your property. If the Old Bill came round to lean on you after your dogs had given them a right good mauling you could say ? ?Goodness gracious me, Officer. I just don?t understand it. They?re such gentle, loving creatures ? wouldn?t hurt a fly, soft as a brush. I?m sure they were only playing. Anyhow, I sure we can sort this out amicably ? here?s a ?20.00. Tell the injured youths to treat themselves to new Burberry baseball caps and Kappa tracksuits on me - there?s a good chap.?

Re: Dog attack
My sister has a Staff and she is really soppy and lovely. I know she can be a right brute if provoked too but thing is it takes a lot to get her going if at all.
I hate tosay it but the parents shouldve never had their child around a couple of pub guard dogs. Them dogs dont ramp. I'd think twice before stepping in the ring with them and believe me they are ferociously territorial...But that is their role and knowing that this should have been respected. I cant comment on the ins and outs of this particular situation but I cant help but feel the parents were a bit lax even if they knew the person and was looking after the place they are still not 'family' to those dogs.

Re: Dog attack
I would happily agree to the muzzleing but the problem is the bad owners that wouldn't. Leaving your own dog not able to defend itself. Plus I have not found a muzzle mine can't get out of.
I must say this funny story, I was on the unederground with one of my dogs, usual tube ride no one even speaking to each other, when a woman ,before even saying hello to me, took her baby out the buggy and said what a beautiful dog! And then pushed her baby in the face of my dog and kissed him. It was not a problem cos my dog loves people, but a very odd thing for a mum to do. It's also wierd, when I walk up the road with my biggest dog, who can look quite scarey, the amount of little old ladies that come hobbling up to him and kiss and cuddle him without a thought to ask if he's safe.
The wrost thing about any new dog laws will mean more and more abandoned animals left on the street, bringing more danger to kids. And like motorists, us decent dog lovers will be persicuted.
