Hello Have done this. Now here is where i think the problem is. I think I have turned down the sound on a media device. Have tried all I can think of. Anyone know how to get a list of devices which have volume attached

Jonboy, go into start, then look for any programmes that use the soundcard, such as real audio, windows media, quicktime etc, and open the programme, then check the volume control level, failing that, go intp the properties section of each programme and make sure nothing is muted, as an outside guess as well, go into control panel, click on phone/modems, the properties, there will be a check box for the volume control offering to mute it for you, make sure thats not checked, also check in control panel for sounds and audio devices then make sure the volume slider is up, and that the mute box is not ticked.

Hello All, Firstly thanks to everyone.Last night still no joy so my mate got one of his IT friends to have a look. The problem is with the PC.Still under warranty so will get it sorted.

Took my PC back to the shop where it was purchased. Explained the sound no longer worked and that an IT Pro had examined it and felt the problem was with the sound card. the assistant switched it on agree there was no sound. Then at the side he turned a small circular wheel which also control the sound, works fine now Felt complete idiot , fortunatly he tells me that it is not just me
