I applaud your passive comments BigAl. I have nothing against the painting, I merely commented on what I felt was its worth. I hope I am proved wrong and you make a few quid. No offence was made directly towards you.

Weird that for a country that tends to ignore the arts, by and large, we can still get het up by someone expressing an opinion opposite to our own. I'm including myself in this.

Most artwork leaves me cold, but the stuff that tends to get nominated for the Turner Prize makes me want to buy a chainsaw and take it to the "art" installation, artist and judges. But then, perhaps my fusion of Hirstian anger and Hieronymous Boschian viscera could find itself nominated for next year's prize.

I normally like Vettriano---but that one seems to lack a certain something (In My Opinion!).

I never realised this thread would prompt so much debate, so thanks to all contributors for your valued opinions.


Caractacus, I'd be interested in what you think that particular Vettriano lacks? It's one of his best ..................... in my opinion !!!!
