a fairly turgid film, if my memory serves me correctly.
indeed, i think that my slade fanclub membership was not renewed after watching this.
i remember seeing slade at the hammersmith odeon in 1974, and i was off school for a few days afterwards with earache, they were so loud!
dave hill was god to me in those days, closely followed by mott the hoople's ian hunter, and, worryingly, steve priest of the sweet!

It wasn't just you, Algarve. I think that movie marked a turning point (for the worse) in their commercial fortunes from which they never recovered - barring a couple of fleeting mini-comebacks in the '80s.

Mind you, I saw them live '82-ish / '83-ish during one of the aforementioned mini-comebacks, and they still put on a stomping good show.

1971-74 was their best output.Flat_Eric wrote:

From memory I seem to recall they went to America to try and crack the US market. I remember buying the album Nobodys fool...that was the last Slade album I bought.

It still affects drummer Don Powell, his memory span is about 20 minutes at a time.
Great bunch of musicians, and Noddy pocessed one of the greatest voices in rock
