I totally disagree that all Pitbulls should be put down.
I personally think its more the owners than the dogs that are to blame, it doesn't make a difference if its a German Shepard, Rotwieler, Jack russell, Akita, Staff Bull Terriers, a Yorkshire Terrier(everyone has had their ankle bitten by one of these usually becuase they have been overly spoilt) or even a Pitbull Terrier if the owners mistreat the dogs and bring them up aggressively then obviously they will be aggressive. Believe it or not thats the case with humans too if kids are brought up in an aggressive enviroment and treated like shit then they tend to have an aggressive nature - should we put them down too?
Its down to the owners not the dogs a freind of mine owns a Pitbull cross breed and he is one of the most freindly and softest dogs I know.
In this tragic case it was the familys total neglect that the child died, number one you do not leave a 5 year old alone with ANY dog, especially when kids have a tendancy to pull the dogs tail or pull its fur which will make almost any dog turn no matter how passive, and number two the dogs owner(the uncle) was already aware of the dogs behavior. As he recieved a warning about keeping the animal under control and whats the odds that the uncle is a chav.
