If you are looking for a couple of books on web design these are good. From Elizabeth Castro
The first, at about ?10, is a good intro to HTML and CSS. If you are not aware of CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) then this book is a good start.
It takes you through a simple tutorial to create a small site usung HTML and CSS.
And this book is a sort of HTML and CSS bible. She has a nice writing style and introduces all the concepts of HTML and CSS used in designing a site.
