The myth of Castro has survived simply because the sanctions gabe his regime a bloody good excuse. There are parts of Cuban society to be admired, and parts to be criticised. At the end of the day, he is just one more dictator unwilling to part with power or trust the judgment of his own people.
As a result of the policy to kick undesirables out of Cuba, great swathes of Florida are now Spanish speaking, filled as they are with the Cuban "refugees"----in many cases the folk who had to flee their affluent lives on this island because they helped the mob and CIA run the place. Since their exile, those self-same folk have been a major power in US politics and agency dirty tricks.
