True. Over the last 6 months I've seen music album prices actually decline while dvd prices increase tremendously. At the same time pirated music has declined while dvd piracy has increased.
I've purchased The Kooks, Muse, Arctic Monkeys, Fratellis, Kasabian, Snow Patrol and The Killers albums all for an average of ?7-?10 in HMV since September while 18 months ago average albums were ?10-?14. That's nearly a 50% cut on some albums.
At the same time dvds in HMV seem to have crept up from an average of ?15 upto ?20. I can get two cinema tickets for me and my girlfriend for about ?16 which is ?4 cheaper than buying a dvd and watching it on a 32" screen instead of a 50' screen.
Crazy.

While I agree with sentiments aired, I don't think piracy is the root cause.
We are in the middle of a huge format war- akin to VHS vs Betamax in the late 70s/ early 80s- where the battle for supremacy of being the next big thing is taking place on three fronts: films, music and gaming. Audio, video and entertainment.
So, the redundand (yes, 'd' at the end) that is the CD is tumbling and in terminal decline with the proliferation of the download, the mp3 and the torrent. Prices are spiralling- you can use a two-year old album as a tea coaster as you could get it for 20p in the right place.
DVDs going up in price? To certain extents; new releases possibly. The dominant '3 for ?20/ 5 for ?20' in Virgin, HMV, Borders makes me think otherwise.
The download, the hard-drive, the torrent, the live streaming: THE INTERNET; broadband.
It has taken over.

DRM is relatively easy to erase if you know what you are doing. Frankly all it does is hit the consumer not the 'Pirates' whom it is supposed to be aimed at.

Pardon my ignorance - but what does DRM stand for?

Digital Rights Management.
It limits what you play certain files on. For instance downloading an iTunes album can be played only on iPods or your PC. You couldn't play the songs on your phone or other mp3 player.
Ripping and re-importing is a way around it but you lose quality a little.
That's about the limit of my knowledge on this.

Regarding the first post, I hope not.
Following on from FF, good point, why is there no edit function, sometimes it all looks ok in preview, you hit the post and there it is, a typo.

Mike, the only problem that I have with porn producers like yourself that complain about piracy is how many of you actually put some copyright protection on your discs?
Sure this wouldn't stop the serious bootlegger but it would stop the average Joe from running a copy off for his mate.
For example one of my mates has a shit load of Brit Porn. Mostly originals. I often borrow Dvd's from him but instead of watching and giving it back to him I'll run a copy off for myself using just Nero and watch it when I feel like it.
Likewise I buy some U.S. porn Dvd's from Gamelink. I lend them to him and he does the same. I also often run a copy off for myself and then sell the original as they hold there value well for the most part.
From memory I think the only ones I have come across that won't copy using just Nero are the Vivid and Private stuff.
As I said this is using bog standard Nero and I would have no idea how to duplicate any copyright protected disc as I am not that crash hot with a computer but copyright protection is not on most porn Dvd's.

I guess the mods are thinking why we need an edit function when we don't proof read our previews properly! lol
