The Mex, in both mk1 (1.6 OHV "Kent" engine) & mk2 (1.6 OHC "Pinto") both came in an array of colours, though the mk2 RS's were never available in metallics just solid or signal (practically luminous) colours

I had an RS200 Custom brand new in 1978, it was my first fast car. I loved that car, the handling and road holding was awesome, not many cars I have driven since then have been better. My record for driving from Chester to London, this was before some of the smaller motorways like the M54 and M56 were built, was 2.40 minutes. You try driving over 180 miles in that time these days.
I drove it all over Europe; France, Holland, Germany, Sweden, Norway, Spain on business.
I sold it in 1980 when I moved to the USA.

We drove around in an Anglia my mate had put a V6 savage engine in smashed the car to pieces getting it to fit, and kept all the same brakes, what a death trap but great fun making it out alive.

In about 1990 I had 3 litre Ford Capri Ghia with Wolf low-profile tyres (Big fat f*****rs), and was staying with a mate daaahn near Windsor for a couple of days, and on leaving his residence I decided to see how fast I could make it back to York in the North of England.
It was dark, 10 o'clock on a Sunday night, I had a flask of decent coffee and a full packet of Marlborough's...
I was back in York at 10 past 12. The only car that overtook me was a Porsche Turbo, and I was doing 120 m.p.h. I also clocked the mileage as well 250miles, don't think that you'd be able to do that nowadays.
The Capri was great at going in straight lines, but crap on corners,

I had a brand new 1.6 Ghia, metallic green with black vinyl roof, and those Rostyle 4 spoke wheels that came on a lot of Fords in those days. It was R registered (1976), a fantastic car then, ( still one of the best cars I have owned). I saw one the other day, and still thought it looked pretty good for a 30 yr. old!!

My 1.3's keep up with modern traffic very well and are actually quite lively, the 1.6's are actually pretty fast with better 0-60 than a lot of new mid-range stuff now, and the RS2 has phenomenal acceleration and brilliant sure-footed handling (thanks to the rally pedrigree) but it's top speed isn't as good as the 2.0 Capri
