Prescott's pension will be huge, more than most of us earn a year for working.

He is a "socialist" (I use the term loosely) of the worst type.

Getting elected under a "labour" banner and then sticking his snout in the trough getting every freebie he can, getting a big salary, and doing NOTHING in return.

He is like the communist leaders in Russia after the revolution - "It is now a communist country, but we all must have our large house in the country".

If he dropped dead tomorrow, like b217bravo, I would cheer.

"If you really want people to die because they have disappointed you as politicians, surely you should really want that part of the electorate resonsible for electing them time and time again to die also."

Sounds good to me, except . . . . . the problem is you vote for a party for one thing, eg Labour for the welfare state. But in their manifesto is also a replacement for Trident, cutting back on civil liberties, replacing nuclear power stations. They get elected, they trumpet the parts that you don't agree with as if they have the country behind them.

It would be a logistical nightmare, but there must be some way of helping democracy by letting us all vote on important national issues, rather than hoping that the MP we elected to represent us will develop a backbone and conscience, rather than do what his party tells him. Pipe dream, I know.

WZR,
Have you ever met the man, sat in the same room & watched his 'negotiating' skills, thought not, well I can honestly say yes to all three.
The man is a total bluffer, uncouth, bad mannered, tries to bully his way through meetings & can't string a decent set of words together in a sentence, his command (lack of) the English language is legendary, he is a laughing stock in this country & I wonder what foreign statesmen think when they come in contact with him
He tries to make a virtue of being an oaf, (but can't carry it off like Boris Johnson), it comes naturally to him & he doesn't have to try very hard, if you have ever watched him standing in for Blair at PMQ believe me that is no act, what you are witnessing is the true man.
Truly a gob on a stick.

"Wishing anyone dead is pretty sick in my book."

What about Hitler? !adolf! Luv loaded questions, me. !grin! !cool!

"If they have done something wrong they should be legally punished, not killed."

And what about legal killing as in the death penalty?

Personally I hope this is the start of a long slow and painful death for the fat, hippo-critical, useless, sponging cunt. !happy!
but there must be some way of helping democracy by letting us all vote on important national issues,
Always the fairest way, but definitely not the wisest. I forgot the exact quote, but Socrates was always against pure democracy like that.

He always said that, 'following one wise man is better than following a thousand unwise men.' (Or something along those lines). He was wise enough to know that the more people vote on something, the more watered down and stupid the result will be. Mass voting always results in the lowest common denominator.

Of course, it's the fairest..........so we have a dilemma still to solve 3000 years later.

Trusting the people we elect is the best compromise we have between idiots voting on things they know nothing about, and a dictatorship.

Big Brother & X Factor winners are the results of public voting. If that doesn't tell you something, nothing will! !laugh!
