They do when it suits them but there's an obvious answer why they didn't do that this time.
It smacks of a major cover up and if the Judge had done that himself then he wouldn't have had this problem in the first place.

Yes my initial thoughts were also that having got away with this he
could do something similar/worse in the future or top himself if he is
now shunned by his friends in high places
