Re: A World Without Oil?
The petrol and diesel engine delivers only 40% of the oils energy to the wheels. 60% is lost through heat.
Now, in this day and age, with plastics and ceramics and all sorts of wonderful technologies, is it me or is 40% utterly pathetic? Yes. So why was the engine never changed?
Well, currently General Motors and Ford are suing California for trying to raise average fuel effiecency standards to below what european standards are. You know what their defence is? It's not technologically possible. Hello?!? You are building cars in europe that can do it! And, our engines are only 40% efficient, still a long way to go!
Basically, the car manufacturers and oil companies are in cahoots. Car manufacturers wont develop better engines because oil industry doesn't want them to so they can sell more oil. Great long term business plan that. Burn it all up really quickly rather than trying to preserve it and have it last much longer.
