Casino is better than Goodfellas but Once Upon a Time is at the top by a long shot. Terrific film. And yes Taxi Driver is also a better film and no Goodfellas does not need repeated viewings.

And Christopher even shoots a guy serving in a doughnut shop in the foot in an early episode of the Sopranos.

It's one of those movies that has been imitated many times (particularly the style of voice over) so I suppose that may have effected it's freshness. I agree with Lizard Once Upon a Time... is an incredible film and feels so authentic too. Taxi Driver is great and I'd highly recommend "Mean Streets" Scorsese's first gangster film which was influenced by his own experiences growing up in Hells Kitchen. Ofcourse if you haven't seen the mighty Godfather films there also worth checking out, though best to miss out the third one.
