When these things are discussed, Keith, there's always someone who says that major flood conditions will only happen once in 70 years or 100 years, and his voice is always the one that's listened to---because they can give a reason not to spend money.

All those people whose homes have been flooded have my sympathy. It must be heartbreaking.

Tewkesbury has it real bad, their completely flooded, it has virtually stranded the entire place, cept for a small bridal path, there is no transport, period, & everything is up the spout.

At the moment, Keith, central and southern Europe are suffering from ridiculously high temperatures. For at least two weeks, it's been 40C constantly in Greece and Romania; Austria and Slovakia are suffering now; and the Italians are also having to get help from French and Spanish firefighting planes.

Most of the weather fronts aren't moving much at all, meaning we can't get rid of the rain and they can't get any relief. The poorer European countries affected by this---Romania, for example---are facing an agricultural disaster. And that's not to mention the dozens of people dying in heat-related incidents.
