Agreed. Pointless, given our lamentable record of even minimal global
cooperation. Perhaps Fusion will come to our belated rescue, but I doubt it.

Even the most conservative scenario makes me glad I won't see 2050.

I'd hope you are right but my cynicism tells me otherwise.

Perhaps a sufficiently large but non-catastrophic 'incident' [say, on the
scale of the complete submersion of Bangladesh] might be enough to
concentrate attention...

Venice is a good candidate too; London or the eastern US seaboard
