So hopefully it's run it's course and TV companies will now start showing programmes that intelligent adults can watch? I did say hopefully!

No chance; they'll replace it with something even more venal and stupid.

I just wonder to what depths TV companies will go to attract viewers?

The production of high quality public service broadcasting has ended.

You have to ask?

I don't think it's as bad as all that. There are still those out there who are
committed to producing quality material; it's just that the BBC has had so
many mixed messages from Govt. that it doesn't know what it's there for
anymore.

Channel 4 is supposed to provide public service broadcasting albeit under it's commercial arrangement. It did at one time adhere to it's public service remit, but in the last 10 years there has been gradual deterioration which has resulted in it's current lamentable output!

The only telly I watch these days is the news and sport, the odd docco too.

My favourite comedies and films I can get on DVD.

I watch about 6 to 8 hours per month! Will watch a bit more with the RWC starting at the beginning of September.

Just watch any of those trashy 'celeb without makeup shows' and you'll know what I mean
