That is a valid point but I wonder if Gibson is an actor who simply reads his lines, plays his part well and does not know much about history and just believes the scriptwriters?

I don't know anything about Braveheart and I accept that Mel Gibson is an Australian.

You are right about the bias of the filmmaker and I don't accept that The Patriot is just fiction because it is about a real war-the American War of Indepence. It is anti British propaganda and a slur on our armed forces. Perhaps a minority of well educated people will realise that these events were fabricated but the masses will accept it as being true and that is where the damage is done.

You attempt to digress from the subject of the deliberate disinformation told in the Patriot: that the British Army massacred a whole village in the American War of Indepence by the horrific means of burning them alive.

The uneducated British public usually learn their history from films and not in school and they accept what they see as the truth and this is what they remember not the history lessons in school.

I re-iterate is Schindlers List fiction as well or is it the truth?

Further to my last email: American films are distributed internationally and watched on TV by billions most of whom know nothing of British history.
They are likely to believe the massacres depicted in The Patriot.
