Using a newly bought computer with Vista at work, my boss discovered (after I had informed him about a dozen times) that there was no software applications installed on it. So, I tried to install a copy of MS Office 2000 and it wouldn't accept it!

You need Service Pack 3 - see the link I posted earlier in the thread.

If you want to know what works on Bisto, your answer will be there.

There is no reason trumpy for that unless you have not installed it correctly, or you dont have a 'key' for it, we have it on several comps both vista and xp.

Sevice pack 1 or two or 3 or vista, if installing on vista, you just need to make sure you have ' admin right' (fuck of bill) If it was me I would disable all admin rights on vista and accounts, waste of time.

Liz, I tried to install a copy (not an original) of MS Office 2000 on to Vista and it wouldn't accept it - a message appeared saying something like "unauthorised installation, not compatible". I had punched in the key number in the correct place, ran autorun and clicked 'install' - but no, it wouldn't let me continue and that message came up.

Do you have to run it in "Windows Compatability Mode" though??

I think the point of having all these admin rights Lizard is to stop "unwanted programmes" running in the background, ie spyware, viruses/keyloggers etc. so maybe better to leave it on or go back to XP.
(no doubt you will know this as you are the top reptile software expert we have on these forums)

I did read what Liz wrote. But he wrote that AFTER I tried to install a copy of MS Office 2000 on to Vista.

I shall follow Liz's advice tomorrow when I'm at work.
