I can assure you that once you have extirpated the major nerve plexus situated directly beneath the buccal opening, by using a large skewer, crabs feel no pain whatsoever.

Crabs are tasty with mayo. But they dont taste so good when they are washed down with a biology lesson.

I was merely attempting, in my usual obscure fashion, to point out that decapod crustaceans are sentient in a limited fashion, and that plunging them into boiling water is a tad inconsiderate.
Please kill them first, as described above/below.
Push the skewer in, and rotate it several times. With lobsters, push it in immediately behind the large head segment.
Prawns? Just bung 'em in the boiling: you'll never find the right spot. Well, even MY compassion has limits.
