Parents lie to their kids about santa claus but it's better for all that they still run the family home. You cannot give that rule to the kids just because they've not told a lie........................yet.

That's not really a valid comparison. Most parents think about their children's well-being. Even when they lie they think it's for their children's good.
Most politicians do not think about their electorate's well-being. They think about their own well-being. When they lie, they try to hide something they don't want their voters to know.
You don't seriously think a child's frustration when he finds out Santa Claus does not exist, is in any way comparable to the mess Blair's lies created in Iraq, do you?
