That's not really a valid comparison. Most parents think about their children's well-being. Even when they lie they think it's for their children's good.
Most politicians do not think about their electorate's well-being. They think about their own well-being. When they lie, they try to hide something they don't want their voters to know.
You don't seriously think a child's frustration when he finds out Santa Claus does not exist, is in any way comparable to the mess Blair's lies created in Iraq, do you?

I agree; a shitty comparison, but what have our current politicians lied about that's affected our lives in a bigger way than when a child finds out there's no Santa?
