Stuart Damon - not the best actor around. The word 'wooden' comes to mind.

Great series as I remembered, but looks a little dated nowadays.
Stuart Damon was typecast as the idea was to help launch the series in the US which failed.
Bastedo was simply stunning as Sharron MCCready.
Filmed entirely in London, the fountain was fotage the then director had of a harbour somewhere.

I read somewhere that the big fountain, which they lead you to believe was in Geneva was actually filmed in Milton Keyes.
I never found out whether that was true.
I think it was supposed to be this fountain though.

The orignal series was, in a word, drivel. William Gaunt had zero screen presence.
Watching UFO as we speak, much better.

UFO was showing on ITV 4 on Sat / Sun evening until recently - not sure if they are still transmitting though.
I always used to watch because I had a thing for Miss Drake.
All the operatives on Moon Base ware costumes make out of what looks like old string vests. It looks very fetching on the female operatives I must say.

I have the box set of The Champions and I think it's great - just my opinion though. The fountain shot was actually fimed in Geneva but they never went there. In fact, the 'went' all over the world but never actually left England.
I hope they don't make a film of this. Look at what's happened when they've tried to make films based on 60's cult shows. Only Mission: Impossible succeeded. The Saint, Thunderbirds and The Avengers were all absolute crap and died a death.
