Forgive me, Wazza, I was halfway out the door and didn't have time to check the Beeb, so assumed your "Ha-ha" was some form of April Fool.

It's more like "press" power, than "player" or "fan"

The press over hyped the fan dissent, maybe a few hundred to thousand booed after another defeat at home, this only a small fraction of the 50,000+ crowd.

Most fans weren't happy with Sam, but were willing to hang on until at least the end of the season, we are sick of change and wanted stability.

The press state that all geordies want Shearer, this is another lie from the press, there is a minority, but again the majority want an established manager with a record of winning trophies either British or Foreign.

So please don't believe everything you read, and then spout bollocks like this
"Because if Newcastle aren't 10 points clear at the top after his first three games they'll want him sacked, too."

Of course after waiting 53 years for a domestic trophy we expect success!!!

I too love that Stadium Liz, and have also been very, very drunk in the Strawberry on numerous occasions. It's a special place, but hey, isn't nice hearing the Southern boys Cockney media fuelled, take on events at SJP. Keep it up boys, we take no notice of you anyway.

For a start mate i don't believe everything i read in the papers. i don't even read the newspapers,as a Chelsea fan we too are'nt strangers to lies and bullshit spouted from the press.

The 'Local Hero' senario just would'nt work with Newcastle and Shearer,if that was the case Chelsea would of appointed Osgood(god rest him) or Chopper Harris as one of their managers all those years back.

Spurs have tried with Hoddle,as have the Scousers with Souness etc

Shearer would need alot of expeirence before taking on a 'big' job like Newcastle.

Harry Redknapp is being well touted for the job,but i doubt very much he would leave his beloved South Coast roots for Tyneside.

My guess is Martin Jol will be offered the job, though McClaren is obviously on the market too !laugh!

The money is on Redknapp. Betfare have taken over a million online. Hughes is also getting plenty of backing.

I can see Hughes taking the job, it will be a pay rise and Blackburn are going nowhere.

However lets be honest. Bobby Robson, Souness and Dalgleish were successful elsewhere and won bugger all at Newcastle....

Problem is totally misguided fans, they genuinely think they are eqaul to Juve, Madrid, Man U etc. Why? I have no idea. Villa, Spurs, West Ham fans, all happy to be playing Prem football and finishing top half, they live in the real world. Living in Carlisle I know plenty of Toon fans and they hold court in pubs, slagging off Ferguson, Rooney, Gerrard etc and talking quality bollox!

I predict a complete mincing by Man U, 5-0 minimum.........

Like i said AV,Newcastle are only big in fanbase, what with Newcastle being a goldfish bowl and dare anyone there support anyone other than the barcodes!!!.

At least in London we have variety and it would be damn boring imo if every Londoner supported Chelsea,Arsenal,West Ham,Yids etc.

Back on topic
I forgot about Hughesy, could well take the job.But would he handle the 'we want it now' mentality from the Toon Army?

Hurts me to say,but i too think Man USA will stuff Newcastle on Saturday.Even more so if the game is at OT.As long as my lot stuff the Yids on Saturday,i can live with that !happy!

Said who?

A couple of blokes in a pub in Carlisle!

Get a grip, I know of no Newcastle fans that believe the club is bigger than Juve, Madrid, Man U etc.

However why should any fan from any club be happy with midtable mediocrity?

If thats the case all fans outside of the big 4 should forget football off and start shopping on a Saturday.

Newcastle fans like anyone else would love some success and anyone that says anything different is lying.

As I said earlier we don't expect success, but no fan should constantly accept failure! Any true England fan will know exactly what I mean.

I think he means that fans of Everton, Blackburn and Aston Villa hope for a European place, while Newcastle and Tottenham fans demand it.

In reality, I can't see any of them breaking into the top four - not for a few years yet. I think only Everton have done it in the last 10 years.
