sorry, another media fuelled scare story with no science to back it up
yes there is mercury in these bulbs, but for there to be any minor chance of any health issues you would have to break about 6 in an enclosed room and sit in there for a long time
you got more chance of a health issue from your fillings
''KILLER'' bulbs, jeez

Aw, Diplo! You're ruined their fun. "Killer" lightbulbs are sexy and sell papers.

I found that when I was in a hot country, I spent almost as long under a tepid shower.

sorry to be the messiah of bad news, but us people who have had any science training see these headlines and blood boils, especially after red wine
on a seroius point though, media distortion of science can be really dangerous IMO, see MMR for a case in point, people have died because of this shit

so the experiment to prove the theory would have seen a family of rats bombed by bulbs for 15 minutes presumably?
I've got more mercury fillings/amalgams in my mouth than most
but the good news is they keep dissolving and being replaced by porcelain
i really should cut down on the acid intake

It was the Daily Mail Buttsie was quoting, so I didn't give it much credence, and I'd already read about it on the Beeb earlier this week.
Yeah, a lot of these illnesses are returning to us because of the hysterical paranoia generated over the MMR vaccine. Anyone who pays more heed to a circulation-fixated tabloid than to medical experts needs to be put on the list of those needing brain transplants.
If the Express or Mail told me there was six feet of snow outside, I'd probably dress for a day at the beach.

nope, the experiement would would have been decades ago to deterime the LD50 of mercury, then we would have worked out how much mercury would have been released into the atmosphere from a breakage of a bulb and extrapolated that result towards the LD50 or other toxic deterimations on a rat or other species
and lo, there is no problem with ''killer'' bulbs
