Emily82:The reason why they're dragging it out is that this could be a possible murder enquiry. No body has been found, thus why they need to catch the evil bastard, then we will know whether Madeline is still alive.I for one hope she(Madeline) is still alive, like i'm sure you do,but we have to face facts that it is very feint hope !sad!
My stance on the McCann's still stays the same.If they were a council estate couple on benefits, they would of got ripped to shreds by all and sundry, rather than getting sympathy. They certainly have'nt got my sympathy.

Who are 'they' that's dragging this out? It sure isn't the McCanns as they are just the victims -for now- and not the investigators.
I'm sure throughout our childhoods, we've been left alone for a little while at some point (more likely sneaking out the back door and hiding at the bottom of the garden in my case). I'm not a parent but I can't see how you can keep an eye on your kids everyday, without fail, for upto 16 years.
Despite the above, the parents were in a foreign land, around people they didn't know. This isn't about letting your child play at the bottom of the garden, where he/she goes missing. To be left in a hotel room at 3 years old -was she three?- is bad parenting. Asleep or not, door locked or door open. There could have been a small fire, one of them could have put something in their mouth and choked, they could have been shoving their fingers in the plug sockets.....anything.
Maybe they could see the door from where they were sat, and maybe they planned on checking in every 15 mins or so, I don't know. If this is the case, then how many parents have done the same? How do you know you weren't left alone at 2-3 years of age? It's not like you'd remember.
My Mum was telling me the other day about when she used to go shopping and I was in my pram. There were no massive supermarkets then, and women just left their babies outside the shop while they waited in the queue. Everybody did it. I remember at six years old walking myself the 2 miles to school, and taking my 4 year old sister to nursery. A generation on, my sister takes them in the car, even though they're a few years older and the school's a lot closer. We're more paranoid now, even though child abductions have gone down in this country.
Is letting your 6 year old child climb a tree classed as negligent, or a bad parent? If the kid falls and breaks it's neck, you're a bad parent, but then again doctors are telling us that we should let them because you're more likely to recognise danger as a juvenile and adult, if you learn lessons as a child.
My conclusion is that it would be a little unfair to judge the McCanns on their parenting skills just yet. We weren't there. Could they see the door or couldn't they? Were they only 20 yards away or on the next street? For now, all that matters is that they do their best, along with the authorities, to find their girl.

I don't usually watch Sky News ( Being the propaganda division of the dark lord) but for once they did some decent investigation about where and when the McCann's and their 'friends' where and at what time they were at that restaurant.
The reporter then retraced the steps back to the McCann's rented house and it was, suprise, surprise, a damn sight further and nigh on impossible to keep an eye on from such a distance.
My parents did the usual thing about letting us kids roam wild when 'we wuz young un's', but they never f*****d off to a restaurant when we were three and four year old's. They paid babysitters to look after us.
No matter what the McCann's say or their friends who were with them that night, what they did was wrong and they should admit it, instead of trying to avoid the subject.
As I stated in a previous post my other half and myself was in a similar situation recently in Thailand, when we were visiting a friend who was teaching out there, same scenario, our friend who has two children who were fast asleep in a motel room on Ko Chang Island, what did we do? I went and grabbed some beers from the local bar and we sat outside the room drinking, with our friend popping in once or twice just to check the kids were fine (they were) It wouldn't have entered our heads to have done anything else.
