"Again, nobody is arguing that the fire service don't get attacked"
I thought you and the colonel were just a minute ago?
"The fire services and ploice force."
Whoa! Checkout the spelling mistake - looks like we've got warren rattled. I guess it's tough trying to defend the indefensible.
I look forward to drawing the forums attention to more awkward and embarrassing facts, figures, and tales of infamy.

No use trying to laugh it off and obfuscate the issue. We're not talking about statistics now, we're talking about you contradicting both the FBU and a real live fireman ? therefore, in this instance, clearly talking bollocks. Because, and correct me if I?m wrong ? you are not a fireman, never have been, and you have all the day to day firefighting experience of a lippy pedant and former shop worker. If you have to obfuscate and waffle to keep in the game, don?t you think you need to take another look at what it is you are trying to defend? Because if there was any real merit in your stance you would have no need to obfuscate.
And what was all that cobblers about the spelling (trying to misrepresent me) and the cack handed attempt to turn things round and whip up a bit of passion over the murder of Gary Newlove? Was it a vain attempt neutralize my arguments and cover your tracks? It won?t wash with me old son, I?m a pro. I see straight through the ?Question Time? style sloganeering ripostes, the waffle and embarrassed LOL?s. So why compromise yourself and your credibility like this? Is it really worth it? You would score more points if you were to make a more humble and honorable defense of the issue - or better still review your stance in the light of the facts. You should take some tips from Caractacus.

I take it that you believe Governments, of any political colour, do not lie, distort, mislead, spin or put their own interpretation on the stats to suit their own political ends?

Firstly can I say I agree with the blah blah's about how it didn't happen in our day. My solution would be to give fire crews the right to defend themselves using any means necessary and if that means turning the hoses on the little fuckers then so be it.
The unfortunate reality is that figures like most things can be manipulated to give out whatever the manipulator wants.
Remember the good old Tory days when figures were used to close coal mines?
How about the laws on second houses currently being manipulated by the Tory MP along with others?
There is absolutely no excuse for these attacks, those who quote being bored are talking bollocks but to attempt to blame the government because some little arseholes think its fun to attack people is pathetic.

Wait a goddamn picken minute here!!!!!!
I didn't see the following quote: "and you have all the day to day firefighting experience of a lippy pedant and former shop worker."
That was a dig if I ever saw one. From a Thatcherite at that. This backs up my theory totally! Jesus grace me with thy wisdom!!!!!!
Thatcher's Britain was a 'winner takes all society' where the losers felt like failures. They felt poorer, more uneducated and more like an underclass because they were treated and poked fun at (see above) for what others deemed as failure.
They grow up with no hope and become lazy, uneducated, 'couldn't give a shit' parents with no ambition and pass it on to today's kids that the Officer is slagging off!
Well fan my brow!

I said 'we're not talking about statistics now, because the thread had moved on from that to you contradicting a real fireman and the FBU. Which is why I raised the issue of you being a teacher and former shop worker who would know little if anything of their day-to-day experiences as firemen. It would be like me contradicting you about what goes on in your classroom.
I highlighted the spelling mistake (something I never do unless it?s relevant) because it?s so unusual for you to make such an error. Taken together with the other circumstances of the thread this immediately flagged up to me that your were rattled, on the ropes ? in short, you were losing it.
So, to sum up. Calling the firemen malcontents and questioning their integrity was a very foolish thing to do. A tactical mistake you made while fearful of backing yourself into a corner at the onslaught my calm restless reason and logic. You might be smart enough to steamroller over facts that are laid in your path by lesser intellects ? but you certainly can?t steamroller over Officer Dibs and the facts!

WZR, be assured that I have no agenda, what I do know of the FBU's figures is that they contacted all 47 fire authorities in the UK & using the FIA requested figures for recorded attacks on firefighters in the years 2006 & 2007, the figures returned showed a significant rise in 2007 over 2006,
SOME fire authorities showed a reduction but overall the figures were UP.
Do you believe every set of figures the government produce? they are just as likely to spin, distort, manipulate & present figures, collected for them by government agencies, to try & convince the general public that their policies are working, ie. inflation at 2.2% anyone?
Wise one, please tell me why these youths feel the need to attack any of the emergency services, perhaps some blame can be laid at the feet of the educational establishment, you are clearly not doing your job properly, allowing your charges to roam the streets in feral gangs simply looking to cause carnage in the community.
