One of these would-be 'terrorists? was interview by John Snow in the Channel 4 studio last night. It was a rather tedious affair and much as you would expect from John - talking a load of luvie ball bag about awful it must have been for them in clink. Then, as the interview was drawing to it's close, he looked the Asian dude in the eye and said 'Right, just one more question. Do you support Al-Queda and their jihad?? The Asian dude then did exactly what a politician would have done and started talking about something entirely different to what John Snow had asked him. But much to his credit, John said 'Whoa! Hold on. I didn?t ask you that.' And I'm there, like ? YES! GET IN THERE SON! And once again John Snow fixed him with a steely glare and (more forcefully and deliberately) said - 'Do you support Al-Queda and Jihad?' So now the Asian dude is fidgeting and like 'Err, er...well, er...My god, is that the time?' and finally 'Look I don't want to talk about that.' Which, as if we didn't already know, told everyone (apart from the luvies) everything we needed to know about their guilt and treachery.

Well theres a good argumnet that it isnt the same purpose for the system as in ye olde past.

when set up it was about law and justice whereas now it is about the law as praticed by those "professionals" (with a much vested intrested in keeping it as it is) who do nothing more than exploit loopholes to get their clients off.

The irony is those who should hav ethe most to fear from the system "The criminals" (im talking the full time on the rob records longer than your arm kind) dont as they are better protected as they get access to better solicitors as theres more money in private pratice than cps work whereas the cps have fair fewer resources (man power) so its easier for cases to be holed.

Colonel - would those same liberal sympathies extend to paedos downloading dodgy (and highly illegal stuff) off the Web simply to look at but not actually act on?

Because to my mind, there's no difference in principle between that and what these guys did.

I just wonder what the hand-wringers will have to say if / when one (or more) of these guys ends up involved in some future terrorist plot / outrage.

But my thoughts and your thoughts don't matter. What matters is the Law- without that we would be in anarchy.

The Law says that the men yesterday were innocent. As Chris Langham has found out, the Law said he was guilty.

If we don't have believe in the courts, we have no society left.

Hold up guys...Dont let your emotions run away with you here.

It sounds like if any muslim reads extreme stuff that they are guilty. What if they are innocent? Like it says there was nothing wrong in reading about it and downloading it but putting it into practice is a totally different thing.

I read Mein Kampf...So am i to be vicitmised by black and jewish folk for being nazi in thought. that would be very laughable.

Surley not all muslims are guilty. I dont know for a fact if these guys are not but listening to you guys here is bad because you've determined that within your minds.

Reminds me of a joke someone said to me: Your black. of course you are guilty.

Dont forget the judge and jury are as white as you folk here representing the same traditions and just doing their job and I hope, just doing it well within the law.

You guys ganging up for a lynching reminds me why people always join and close ranks with groups like this. Fear. its like are you with us or against us when so many people have judged you already so you join up to have protection. Not to mention this muslims being fanatical feeling is running real high soI cant imagine through fear itself that either side can see the whole thing clearly.

These guys would be guilty if charged under 2006 legislation, its because of the loopholes in the 2000 laws the got away with it.

Remember the youngest one left a suicide/martyrdom note for his parents, so there's a bit more to it than just looking at a few dodgy downloads.

And I agree with the point made above, if we get a precedent here, there's a possible avenue for child porn downloaders to exploit.
