Quite relieved the poor little mite has been found, and fingers crossed she hasn't suffered either physically (you know what I mean) or mentally.
Couldn't help noticing the TV coverage of her street and the locals drinking from cans and smoking roll ups celebrating her release. I have a feeling the locals were given hand out booze from the TV crews to show a rather disjointed image of them being lower class citizens knocking back their booze, which I found very distasteful.

Wouldn't surprise me in the slightest.

Re: Shannon
Not really been following the story but I'm glad the lass is ok.
Seems she wanted to run off, but....
...how do you keep a 9 year old in a flat for nearly 4 weeks? This 'relative' must be a bit of a nutter.

Re: Shannon
It is possible it was a tv set-up.... but then again it's a bit patronising to suggest it isn't real when tinnies & roll-ups are actually a way of life on the sink estates across the land. There are pubs on estates on the other side of my city that genuinely reflect C4's Shameless - open institutionalised drug-taking (a pill or a line with a pint - and that's just the women) and locals who are allowed to drink their own tinnies. this area of Dewsbury was clearly along those same lines.
And, lets's face it, the tubby monstrosities they interviewed about Shannon were all thoroughbred Jeremy Kyler's.... talking of which, maybe Shannon and her 'extended' family will recieve the ultimate accolade - a Jeremy Kyle Show special!

They're locking them up today, they're throwing away the key...I wonder who it be tomorrow, you or me?
Re: Shannon
Would'nt surprise me.Jeremy Kyle would sell his own mother or wife to get a TV audience.
Shameless (C4) stereotypes the typical 'lower class' Northern Family.I wonder how Northerners in general find that?-attitude wise.
It is existent in London as well, especially in Sarf London and the 'pikey' parts of Kent and Essex.
I too find it distasteful the way ITV plyed the family with cans of beer etc.dynatech wrote:

Re: Shannon
I think that there is a lot more about this story to come out- and some might be jaw-dropping.
I can see the Mods. having to close and lock this thread for a variety of reasons- sub judice being one. Remember that once someone is charged, the girl's name cannot be mentioned thereafter, including at trial and conviction. That can be surreal, especially like the media coverage that we have had today- Sky News have been non-stop with it since at least 4.
The fact that the girl will not be going home and is under an emergency care order is something else we all need to consider.
