Broon is under pressure apparantley for the UK to boycott the game's,but can't see that happening especially when there's lot's of money and sponsorship involved, though France are being rumored to boycott.
Would be great if Euro 2008 and Wimbledon clashed with the Olympics, like Trumpton said, the live events will likely be on BBC's digital channels to accomadate the Football and Tennis.I know Euro 2008 starts on the 10th June,Wimbledon normally takes place on the penultimate week of June.So a sporting 'pile up' is well on the cards.Barcode wrote:

Re: BBC Snouts in the trough
I remember in 1980 when the Moscow games were boycotted by the US, Britain and others. Individual athletes from these countries still went but they participated as individuals under the Olympic flag.
Re: BBC Snouts in the trough
True, but Britain is now a money orientated nation, compared to the 1980's .I really don't think that Brown will even consider boycotting, despite the turmoil and hardship the Chiniese are causing out in Tibet atm.

Re: BBC Snouts in the trough
The USA were particularly livid that the Soviet Union had invaded Afghanistan. Two decades later the US did exactly the same.
Re: BBC Snouts in the trough
Pretty sure Britain didn't Geoffrey Boycott the Moscow Games Trumpton as I remember Alan Wells getting gold it was only the USA as I remember - taking Carl Lewis out of the equation.
PEOPLE think Stephen Hawking is so clever, but when you ask him a question and he is typing in the answer on his little screen, how do we know he isn't just looking up the answer on the Internet?
