Nope nothing good whatsoever going on at the moment.

When the only thing in US wrestling that holds my interest currently is Shark Boy doing a Stone Cold spoof you know things have got bad.

That's quite a hard question for me to answer, being that when those three particular wrestlers were at my best, I was too young for wrestling - especially Ricky Steamboat. I think Bob Backlund deserves a mention too. I have seen the Bret vs Shawn matches like the ironman at WM12 etc though.

I think the thing with Bret was he just seemed to be a bit predictable, it didn't matter who the match was against - Bret just wrestled pretty much the same.

Whereas Shawn seems to be able to vary and change his style a bit more. Not so much now but definitely back then. Shawn has had a few really good technial matches in recent years - like with Kurt Angle.

Of my "era" of wrestling I would say some of the best technical wrestlers are/were Kurt Angle, Chris Benoit (one of my favourite ever matches we the ultimate submission match between them), Dean Malenko, Eddie Guerrero.

If Owen Hart had lived then he would definitely be on that list as he had all of the technical ability of Bret but had a bit more variety.

I don't think we should overlook wrestlers like William Regal (who's been wrestling a very long time and used to wrestle on World Of Sport), and although Ric Flair went more into his showmanship and being the "dirtiest player in the game" he was a very techincally sound wrestler.

Geek never looked so good!

For entertainment value it has to be the likes of Sid Vicious and Big Van Vader... I still recall Vader destroying Sting on WCW, with me screaming at the telly, at 1am on a schoolnight and my mum giving me a right bollocking for waking her up!

Technically, agree that Steamboat was awesome, along with Benoit (even if he has got a face like a bulldog chewing a wasp) and who can forget Lex Luger. Rob Van Damme in his original ECW days was amazing as well.

Had forgotton about Muta's legs. Sabu went the same way and was a walking wreck in the final days of ECW, but christ, he could take some risks.

HBK wasnt just doing what he was told, if anything he was the guy who convinced Vince to do what he did, in the days and weeks before the match bewteen the two, HBK was constantly at Vince saying he couldnt believe Vince was going to let Bret not do the job and the match end in a DQ when Bret was going to WCW just a month later. HBK had so much say it was his and also to a lesser extent HHHs constant conversations with Vince that ended up with Vince chosing to find a different way out of the match.

Vince made the ultimate decision, but Michaels, HHH, Patterson and Gerry Briscoe( who was teaching HBK basic submission escapes in his hotel room the night before WM) all had hands in what went down.

Think you mean the dynamite kid

best ever technical wrestler to come out of britain!!

Completely agree with hawkins, the bret screwjob was purposely orchastrated by several well known wwf stars days before it actually happened and everyone knew (apart from bret of course) what was going to go down that very night.

Still makes me sick to my stomach how they could of done this to a legend who had served the company so well in the past, used to be a massive bret fan and remember the sadness i felt when they brought him back as a crying moaning baby just to create a storyline with stone cold.

bret is sorely missed within professional wrestling as is owen!!!!

Theres a bit more to it than Bret not wanting to lose in Canada.

HBK had said many times privately and publicly, that he would not be losing to anybody, and certainly would never entertain the thought of doing business and putting Bret over ever again.

Yet Bret was asked to do the honour for him when HBK had said that, you can see why Bret was somewhat reluctant to do this.

The Canada thing did play a big part, but it wasnt the sole reason he refused.
