Not at all... I still maintain that the better team lost (as did pretty much the whole of the European press) but now my thoughts are on other things.
As for the dates... according to Peugeot, they ceased manufacturing the 305 for the UK market in ... 1987!!!

Unless it was siezed as you were overdrawn, they did have an obligation to return it as the facilities on a cash point ATM, ie VISA LINK, Mastercard etc were also logos on your card.......makes no difference who you bank with.
You should have demanded a manager come to you.
