All she did was to point out that animals were being cruelly treated as part of a religious festival and that this was, in her opinion, against French values. If that is 'racist' ( race? ), then racism must now include any criticism of animal cruelty when carried out by Muslims.

Sure Brigitte might be an old slapper these days, but in 'her day' she was a fat cracking fuck-pot. And she has campaigned against cruelty to animals ever since giving up the lip stick. How can you not appreciate a woman of her character?

Jews produce kosher in the same manner as halal. Did she criticise the Jews too?

Fining her for having an opinion, regardless of what anyone thought is a bit strong.

I thought we leaved in a democratic society with free speech? How come the BNP hasnt been fined yet then for not liking foreigners then?

Why werent the muslims fined for 9/11 and 7/7 ?

Yes I know its ridiculous but no more so than the old lady having an opinion and being fined 11 grand for it. I'm not a muslim basher but I reckon the courts should give her a bloody refund.

Is it wrong to condem Natzism? If not then surely it can't be wrong to condem Islam.

Hi Alice,

Whilst I agree with a lot of what you've written about Islam and the appalling way women and non believers are frequently treated in it's name, I take issue with what you say about Cat Stevens regarding Salman Rushdie. He said in a recent interview that he was reciting the Koran regarding blasphemy and he said that Christianity had similar laws regarding blasphemy ie the blasphemer should be executed. He didn't aim his comments at Rushdie directly(the interviewer linked Cat's comments to Rushdie) and he later said that he regretted his comments and how they were taken out of context.
