Let us all face facts, the England football team is a shower of shit!!

Spain, Croatia, Dutch, France, Italy etc etc would have beaten us. They would have started crying before going back to earning ?100k a week.....

"Spain, Croatia, Dutch, France, Italy etc etc would have beaten us."

Yes KellyH, but we wouldn't have played ANY of those sides unless we reached the final.

The more relevant question is whether England could have beaten Portual or Turkey in the quarter final. And then whether England could have won a semi against Germany/Portugal/Turkey.

Only then would England have been pitted against Spain, Croatia, Dutch, France, Italy, as you mentioned.

OK I was wrong about Sweden! But come on, to win tournaments you have to beat the likes of Sweden which sort of proves my point if we haven't managed it in a major tournament. But lets face it.We would not have done any better agianst Germany. They had a hiccup in their last match but don't bet against them being in the quarters and semis. They know how to progress in these tournaments as do Italy. We don't.We can't win penalty shootouts,we don't treat all opposition with the same respect as evidenced by some embarassing defeats in the last few years against supposedly mediocre opposition.Austria?Poland?Would we have beaten them?Don't bank on it we couldn't even qualify!!
We just aren't good enough at the moment and I personally wouldn't bank on us qualifying for the next world cup. After all the 70s were a pretty barren decade for us (no 74 no 78)I beleive we will be unseeded which makes qualification more difficult.

Thought you were smart when you took them on,
But you didnt take a peep in their artillery room,
All that rugby puts hairs on your chest,
What chance have you got against a tie and a crest.

speedybert you are correct, England were not seeded for the World Cup draw.

(not seeded in Pot A that is, England were placed in Pot B).

England are drawn with:

Croatia (from pot A)
Ukraine (pot C)
Belarus (pot D)
Kazakhstan (pot E)
Andorra (pot F)

I forget to mention that only the 9 group winners qualify automatically. Of the 9 runners up the one with the worst record is eliminated and the other 8 play off for the 4 remaining places.

(Europe having 13 places in the World Cup finals).

Got to agree. I think we'd have qualified second in our group, behind Spain, and then been spanked by the Dutch, so no big deal really.

Terry's total lack of mobility (sorry Mike) would have been exposed in a big way by the Dutch movement. I bet anything we'd have played deep, like the French, to avoid their counters, and paid the price. Thuram was virtually in the stands which left even more space in the middle for the Dutch to romp around in. I think Rooney would have been starved of the ball by their midfield possession too. Got to say that after their group performance the one team you wouldn't want in the quarters is Holland.

Defensively the Dutch are average, but as an attacking force their midfield is in a class of its own at the Euros. The passing, speed and vision is awesome. Total pleasure to watch them hammer Italy and France. I really Holland win the tournament.

I doubt whether any of the England players have been watching Euro 2008,(Rooney excused for obvious reasons).

They would of done themselves a favour by actually watching the games.

Capello definetley needs to make changes to the England team. It's a given that Lampard and maybe Owen will be dropped for the 1st WC quallifier.the midfield needs to be more compact and mobile.

Two strong strikers would be ideal too.Rooney and Ashton would perfectly fit that bill.Ashton needs to stay 'injury free' next season to prove himself.

JamesW, I think you need to get out more!
I don't really care who and when we would have played hence etc etc, we would have lost.
England is full of over paid, under performing twats!

No shit sherlock.I think another factor is when the England team get together, they don't bond like they do for their clubs. The Yahnited,Liverpool and Chelsea players don't properly mix.

We've even heard stories of Steven Gerrard showing jealousy to JT,Lampard,J Cole,Cashley Cole because they have premiership medals, and the Chelsea lads are the same towards Gerrard because he has a CL medal.

There were problems before with the Sapnish national teams of the past because the Barcelona and Madrid player and those from the Basque regions would'nt bond properly.

Croatia and Portugal are fine examples of good team bonding.Nothing is false and you just know they play for each other.

That is where England are going wrong,as well as their over-inflated wages.Kellyh wrote:
