No need for an apology Chatterji, I completely agree with you, but the the azzurres always seem to scrape through some how.
I was just chuffed we made it. You never know we might pull one out of the hat with Spain.

I can't see Toni missing so many clear-cut chances again, but it all depends which Spain show up to play the Tiddlies.

I agree Italy were lucky to get a point against Dracula's XI,after being horsed by Holland,but they grinded out a good result last night and were the better team.Maybe Ribery's injury did no favours to the French.

As for Luca Toni,he should of at least got a couple of goals.How many more sitters missed before he actually remembers where the goal is?

Or has he left his scoring boots back in Munich? !laugh!

Fair point Alice.The French have been ageing and maybe this was one tournament too many for them.It's likely Domenech will get the bullet for Deschamps to step in as their new gaffer.

Makelele,Thuram,Vieria,Sangol and Anelka have probably played their last games for France.

The problem is that France are having problems developing young talent as the French first division gets more and more inflated with Africans,mainly North Africans who prefer to play for their Country,even though some of these African's have French citizenship.Alice In Blunderland wrote:

I am happy the Italians got through, as far as I'M concerned, Italy are one of those sides that when missing a tournament, then that tournament is a poorer place, think Euro '92.
I remember an Italian chip shop owner who explained waving his arms everywhere that;
'Weeeeth out Eeetaly, ezzzz no competeeeeetion'*

* 'Without Italy, its no competition'
