You don't actually believe the tourists come because of the royals? They would come anyway, because what they want to see is the buildings - the most visited palace is Europe is Versailles, it doesn'rt put the visiters off just because they guillotined their royals.

Tourists come to see the buildings because we still have the Royal links to the past. In my opinion the Royals work their socks off, and none more so than the Queen.
I don't begrudge the 66p, but I begrudge all the thousands I lose through PAYE to poorly-thought-out policies etc

If people are complaining about paying 66p a year for the royal family, what about the ?139.50 a year we are forced to pay for the rotten old BBC.

Seriously, 66p per year is nothing. Most of that goes on the upkeep of the palaces etc, which would have to be done anyway. Apart from that, you have to have a head of state, who has to entertain visiting heads of state, it's just the way the world works, and it will cost whether the head of state is Elizabeth Windsor or Helen Mirren.

The Royal family of old,used to stand for something.Today they are just a bunch of dysfunctional,good for nothing parasites.
