Someone has to, I suppose !wink!!wink!
I've yet to see any Merc where I've thought "If I won the lottery, I'd have one of those!"

If you can remeber James may used to drive a very old Bentley, but now is able to own a Boxter, ( Salary increase) I can't own a Boxster , would like too, so it does seem that working for the beeb does pay....
also, th e1st programme two weeks ago May's hair was grey , but last week was brown....tart...
The programmme is not appealing as it once was, but what do I know.
Has Clarkson got is grubby fingers in the "Dave" channel ?

I sincerely hope that all three with their large pay packets will spend a greater percentage of that on improving their appearances. They are all scruffs - especially May who needs a darn good haircut.

It's interesting what was mentioned about how Clarkson is the highest paid motoring journo in the world. I've always regarded him as being famous for that, of course, but felt that the reason he is super-famous is because of the oddball geek that he is and that people know him for that. For example: the fact that 'Clarkson killed demin' by apparently wearing dark blue demin jeans and jackets, and looking like a geek when he did, got him much more coverage than anything he has ever written or done involving cars. So an A-list celeb and a B-list journo, I thought. But no, he is the top of his game and the highest paid one on earth. Interesting.

Remember, "highest paid" doesn't mean "best".
In his Sunday Times column, you need to wade through at least half the article before he actually starts talking about the car, and in most cases it's written in such a way as to make you wonder if he even sat in the thing, let alone drove it! The fact that he's such a high profile motoring journalist, yet doesn't actually know anything about mechanics or engineering makes me think that he's being paid for being a self-opinionated boor, rather than for any technical insight.
Definitely high up on the list of people to placed against a wall and shot.

Clarkson has never claimed to be a qualified motor engineer - although he has received a couple of those Micky Mouse doctorates from a couple of Universities.

I cannot abide Clarkson in the slightest, HOWEVER.................when you see that Jonathon Ross gets ?18m per year compared to Clarksons paltry by comparisson ?2m you have to ask two questions............
1) Why are our license fees not funding good programmes instead of overpaying some dodgy TV presenters? and........
2) I'm sure there's another question, but I can't think of what it is yet, but feel free to think of your own.

Wossy is not getting ?18m per year - he's getting ?18m over 3 years.
