Kudos for nurturing some fine players..

It's one thing to bring them through the youth system, it seems from the players you have mentioned that it's another story entirely for West Ham holding onto them and not selling the majority to the bigger southern clubs..Ireland and Johnson have both signed new contracts this season and we have also tied up the services of Micah Richards and Joe Hart..are you telling me those four would not make the starting 11 in any Premiership Team..including West Ham?..The difference being they want to stay at the club that has nurtured them as they know that they have a bright future and the chance to play for the team if they train hard and show commitment..thats key to retaining our history and status as a community club even if we do have billions to spend..

How can any manager be expected to succeed with that structure in place..do you think Fergie, Benitez and Wenger would let a faceless 'suit' (or a twat like Dennis Wise) choose the players to come and go..no chance!!!

Hence the current state of affairs at Newcastle United and if you're not careful, West Ham..

Wenger summed up this exact train of thought this week just gone when he was with Fergie at some dinner. He was asked about Keegans/Curbs departures and said "If the manager ISN'T the most important person at the club, why is ONLY him that gets the sack if things go wrong". Brilliant, brilliant answer !

And do you seriously believe that the reason youve currently managed to mantain those players and we lost the majority of ours during hard times wasnt for financial reasons??

SWP jumped at the 1st chance to join the rent boys from stamford bridge as would Ireland, Hart or any of the others you mention given similar circumstances. Loyalty in todays game is virtually non existent.

If this kind of nest egg was to go to any other club other than west ham im quite happy for it to go to you lot for many reasons including the fact like ourselves you are one of the few remaining "real" football clubs who have been through thick and thin but still stayed for the cause (plus the fact many of my idols aka: the gallaghers and hatton support you lot :-)

But this kind of investment into our game just continues to chip away at the underlying values that modern football fans all have in that they love the beautfiul game not because its about who has the more money and not who is actually the best footballing side!!

Yeah you are right hammer, our new status as the richest club in the world has played a major part in us keeping our home grown stars, as well as in Shauny coming home, (great bit of business that was, almost as good as offloading Biffer Barton to the Toon Army!) ..

At the end of the day major investment in the transfer market is the reality of a club having any success in the Premier League, it has been that way since its inception (although it isn't any guarantee..see Liverpool..), so ADUG buying our club hasn't really changed anything, it has just made the Premiership even stronger, who doesn't want to see another team make a real effort to break the Top 4 monopoly, or watch Robinho ply his trade in the best league in the world..and as you said, for it to happen to a 'real fans club' is even better..The new owners are committed to the Youth Academy and to the Manager, and that can only be great news for the future of Manchester City and for English Football..and if it pisses off Manchester United and Arsene Wenger that's just a great bonus! lol

it really does piss off Arsehole doesn't it? He's not stopped having a pop at City these last couple of weeks. He seems worried to me. Old Purple nose over in Trafford hasn't really said a thing and is probably waiting to see how we do first so fair enough to united. What amuses me is all the crap in the press about who we're linked to and what we're going to pay when City haven't actually said any such thing. News Of The World and the Star reported we're going to bid for Tevez even though his agent said City haven't even shown interest in him and Tevez is expecting to sign a deal with united. The Mirror cannot stop accusing us of ruining English football even though we've only bought Jo and Robinho for big money. Compare that with Spurs, United, Chelsea, Liverpool etc over the last few years! Oh dear, Manchester City have won the lottery, what are we going to do as we can't have them winning anything as they're our laughing stock and should be relegated every few seasons. Well, after all the shite City have been through, it couldn't happen to a better club. City will have the last laugh!!

i think you are getting a bit carried away with man city admittley robinho is a top qulity player but you need 11 top qulity playes to win anything and i dont think you have that . also even if you but a new squad in jannuary does not mean that they will gel together just look at real madrid a few seasons ago, chelsea spent millions but one nothing last season newcastle have spent mega money as have tottenham ( bottom of the league) with no real end product. I think you will reach top 4 but it wont be this season maybe next but then who would drop out of the big 4 maybe liverpool but thats it. also i dont think mark hughes is the man to do it i may be proven wrong but as yet man city failed to beat chelsea have yet to play the others i reserve my judgement untill they play us (arsenal) man u and liverpool. i agree thou it would make a refreshing change to see you up there but you may have to be patiant.

also any one see are awsome kids last night just provs that you dont have to spend millions to be a great team wenger is a legend .

love to all emma butt

I think beating F.A Cup Winners Portsmouth 6-0 was a much better performance than stuffing a very poor Sheffield United by the same scoreline Emma..And Hughesy is most definitely the man for the job..

When asked to comment on Arsene Whingers frankly bizzare comments on City as a dodgy business investment and his questioning of the new owners motives, Hughes said, " He seems very concerned about our club, i'm not in the slightest bit concerned about his.." lol

portsmouth did not exactley play a great team to be fa cup winners and have not been that great chelasea stuffed them 4-o they are there for the taking as for our result that was our reserve team that played mostly 16 and 17 yrs old so credit where credit is due .
Wenger used the Arsenal club magazine to express his concern at the increasing number of Premier League rivals being taken over by overseas businessmen about whom little is known, with no track record in football. just look at the last guy that owned your place.also hughsey the man for the job you cant say that as he has not proved himself at the top level and by that i mean being in the top 4 when he does i will issue a apoligy to you but you might have to wait a few years.
love emma
