It could as you say have happened at some other gig some other time, but it definitely didn't happen at the Sheffield MSG gig in '82 that led directly to Bonnet's sacking from that band. I think it's most likely an urban myth, or a case of Chinese whispers that ended up getting printed as 'fact'.
Light In The Black: Great tune that was for some reason hardly ever played live, apparently (I never got to see the Dio incarnation of Rainbow live though, unfortunately. I only ever saw him later, as ... ahem .. "Dio").
The best Rainbow album featuring Dio for my money is "Live in Munich, 1977". Only released a couple of years ago (also on DVD). Knocks "On Stage" into the proverbial cocked hat.
