Maybe it wasn't racist, just looking out for her daughter's safety, seeing how those blokes like to drive - some of them probably never sat a test in their lives

I had the misfortune to have to listen to 'Talk Shite' today in someones car, and there were a real pair of obnoxious cunts on - some fuckers called somebody and Jacobs. What a pair of boring, unfunny twats they were. The whole station fucking stinks, along with most radio stations in Britain today. Radio should be a great medium - entertaining, informative and amusing, but far too many stations employ twatty, obnoxious, ignorant presenters who want to put on a 'show'. If you can't entertain, inform or amuse me, please, just play some decent music, tell me who it's by and what it's called and shut the fuck up!
And fuck the phone-ins!

Hawksbee and Jacobs.

To be fair, Andy Jacobs was producer and script editor of Fantasy Football League- one of the funniest programmes of the last 20 years.

But on radio- they are indeed shit.

Gaunty sacked

Gaunty now sacked.

TalkSport is trying to launch a digital sister. Heaven knows who with- Ian Collins is now in Gaunty's slot and George Galloway is [temporarily?] in a 4 night a week slot as a long weekend? That kind of slot is unheard of- and clearly its all he can do; but he is now their 'biggest name'.

Gaunty- you were a fool to leave the BBC.

I happened to be listening the day he called the guy a nazi.

He was talking about stopping smokers being able to foster children and was talking to the guy in charge who had made the decision.

Gaunty was really "fired up" and was getting very angry (he had been in care as a child). He kept interupting the other guy and in the end the other guy said "Dont you ever stop talking?" and then "Why dont you interview yourself?"

I have to say that I was gradually getting fed up with Gaunty. I know he tried to put on this "act" to upset people and encourage them to phone in, but he began to do all the talking and never allowed anyone else to make their point.

I have seen him on the Alan Titchmarsh show on TV a couple of times and he is far more erudite and soft spoken so he can do it if he wants to.

I think he just began to believe in his own publicity.

>Hawksbee and Jacobs.

For those that may have been put off by the negative comments about Hawksbee and Jacobs in this forum.

I listen to them now and again and I have to say I find them very funny.

There is a genuine friendship between them and many of their quips and one liners are very funny.

They also have some very amusing phone ins.

For example the other day Phil Collins was shown on Match of the Day at a match and the commentator make a few "jokes" using his song titles.

So Hawksbee and Jacobs asked people to phone in with their Phil Collins / Football related song titles.

So we had suggestions like "You cant hurry Ndlovu".

So I happen to think they are very good and a great listen if you are a sport and comedy fan.

Agreed- as I said, for him and Whaley it was all a bit of an act, but as any performer knows, the character can take you over if you are not careful.

Both have worked with Ed Doolan on the BBC up here in Birmingham. Adrian Goldberg used to do the Breakfast Show on the BBC up here in Birmingham. That's because Moz Dee- TalkSport's programme controller used to host early shows up here too- all on BBC Radio WM. But Doolan-unlike all his proteges- just rips apart the unworthy of all sides, not just one. And no shockjockery either- just cold hard fact.

Which just leaves 2 points. Doolan did a fortnight on Radio 2 a few years ago- but just didn't work nationally. Amazing-London's loss.

And Moz Dee- Mr.TalkSport? Well, he's Black. And good for him. But I bet that surprised a few of you, eh?

Galloway 6 nights a week

Post by colonel »

I'd never vote for George Galloway- but he makes a great late night host.

Incredibly, he is now on 6 nights a week- with Times columnist Matthew Norman on Fridays.

So it's Collins in for Gaunty and Gorgeous George in for Collins....I don't think either will get themselves sacked.
