The numbers quoted are victims of the holocaust not necessary just those who died, and a lot survived the concentration camps but were still victims as were those who lost loved one and relatives in the holocaust therefore to quote any number is meaningless just accept that the holocaust happened.

Something wrong with your calculator jonny...lol
3300 per day...totally feasible sad to say
personally i think the figure is closer to 5 million with a million made up of
all the other types that were on the fascists hit list for extermination
You can quibble over stats but to me 1 million would be no less horrific than 4,5 or 6million

It is insensitive, but (as a non-Christian) I can see the reasoning behind it. Sensitivity is not of relevance as far as the Pope is concerned.
Excommunication is a matter of the violation of religious doctrine, no more no less. Thus, is the story of the Holocaust a matter of Catholic Doctrine? Apparently it is not, and thus no excommunication should be based on people's views on the matter.
To give an example: if someone ran a paedophile cannibalist ring in which they abducted children from nurseries, first raping then killing and then eating them - then that would indeed make them a sinner in the eyes of the Catholic Church, but it is not a matter of excommunication either. If, on the other hand, they said "Virgin Birth, my arse - that Maria was sleeping around!" then it would be.
I am pretty sure the Pope has strong views on this matter, after all before he became Pope he used to be the leader of what was once called The Inquisition.
And excommunicating someone is not quite the same as, say, throwing someone out of the Conservative Party.

Believes in a god for which there is not the slightest shred of evidence. Doesn't believe in the hugely well documented Holocaust. Am I missing something?
