Keeping Track of Brits Travel
Re: Keeping Track of Brits Travel
I think most people would realise a database of movements outside the EU a very good thing for a variety of reasons.

Re: Keeping Track of Brits Travel
I have 'big brother' tale like this.
My wifes friend who is quite a high up person (stature wise anyhow) in the St Petersburg (Russia) council was coming over to visit us earlier this year and a rather strange request came over from her.............the British Embassy there wanted to see a copy of my bank statement. Now remember she is a high ranking official with money paying for all of her trip here and we are just 'putting her up' in our house. Her visa was subsequently refused because unsufficent funds were available in my bank account.
What funds............she was paying for her own trip !
But that isn't the worst thing. The worst thing is that I, a 'British' passport holder was asked to divulge my bank account to some pompus prick in the British Embassy in St Petersburg, Russia.
FUCKIN NOSEY TWO FACED HYPOCRITICAL CUNTS !
I FUCKIN HATE THIS COUNTRY !

Dave,
If she is not British- and the fact she needed a visa tells me that she isn't- then the Law requires proof that a person can be kept without resorting to public funds. Hence you had to provide proof.
Many Asians and west Africans have to do the same for their kith and kin; because the system was so abused over the last few years by people who then became illegal immigrants.

As I have clearly stated she was using her own funds not mine. And where and when do the British Embassy in Russia have any right to even ask about my bank account. Next time I will ask for someone important to contact me personally I will tell him/her to FUCK RIGHT OFF.

Re: Keeping Track of Brits Travel
Dave,
She was indeed using her own funds to travel to you. But the Borders and Visas people might wonder if she would overstay and then who would keep her.
All this very nasty and racist legislation has come from the Daily Mail/Express 'W*gs begin at Calais' nonsense of Sangatte photos and libellous shit of 'immigrants getting mobile phones and cars for free' . Fucking Bollocks.
So tell the Borders Agency to fuck off, Dave- but then shout fuck off to the Daily Mail and its readership.

Re: Keeping Track of Brits Travel
Very true.
When you turn it on, you are immediately 'triangulated' by latitude and longitude into a geographical box called a 'cell'- why do you think the Americans call them cellphones?
This technology can be used to keep an eye on kids- and has been used by both prosecution and defence in trials in this country, America and elsewhere.
