I used to be a wine waiter for Margaret thatcher at the house of commons many years ago, a lovely lady to talk to & yes she saw the power hungry unions as socialists waiting to happen.
How many on here remember the 3 day week & candles a few times a week when the unions caused power cuts & almost brought Britain to its knee's, look at Russia & see how dangerous a socialist society can be & say she was totally wrong.
Did she do right or wrong is a tricky question as there are lots of pro's & con's from both sides but you can't take away that she was one plucky lady who spoke her mind unlike the American influenced Prime Minsters of today.

I do.

While were singing her praises lets not forget P Tax, entire communities made redundant when coal mines were closed, riots etc etc etc

If we look for all things chav history could show the lovely Mrs T as responsible for the start of it.

Blinkers off now John

'Socialists waiting to happen'? Whether you agree with socialism or not's a diferent matter, but it's hardly a virus (the opposite really, if you consider the principle of universal health care).

And the U.S.S.R. a socialist state? What about Brezhnev's 'gravy train'? George Orwell's famous lines in 'Animal Farm': "All animals are equal; but some are more equal than others".

Nobody's ever totally wrong: that's a bit of an unfair standard to hold critics to. Even Nazi Germany tried to limit public smoking for health reasons, it hardly justifies their behaviour or nullifies criticism.

As i said earlier there will be pro's & con's but labour will always get the country deep in debt as they did last time & will leave it to the next party in to pick up the pieces, anyway if the people were that badly treated why did the country vote her in 3 times?
Being the first women PM & also being in term for 12yrs will always make her famous or infamous in our history books.

Er, they didn't necessarily elect her three times: the first past the post system means that technically a minority of people can elect a govenment.

But it doesn't really matter I suppose. Political beliefs are a personal matter - I wasn't trying to badger anyone.

Plus I always vote for the Lib Dems.

Kim,you are a fine porn star but you really do talk a lot of shit about politics. Thatcher destroyed whole communities up north, and didn't bat an eyelid. I.m not sure who has poisoned your mind about socialism,i think you have been reading too many copies of the sun. Whats wrong with a fairer society, where the rich pay more to help the people who have less...all Thatcher did was reward the filthy rich and screw the hard workers who did it for peanuts.
