Be careful about voting Tory. We all have gripes with New Labour and I am not a supporter of theirs but one thing I would say in their favour is they never tricked people into voting for them like the Tory's always did. The lies Thatcher told to win the 1987 election, and the amount of public money she spent to do it (which is illegal) and she then broke evey promise within 3 or 4 months, but there was nothing the public could do as they couldn't vote again for nearly another 5 years, was obscene; and Mayor did exactly the same in 1992. At least Blair didn't trick people like that. The Conservative's wanted office at any price and would lie and deceive to get it.

I'm not sure about Cameron but I wouldn't be surprised if he would do the same. Also Cameron has turned the party into a bunch of Etonian toffs who are only there becaue of family connections - just like the Tory's were years ago (himself, George Osbourne and many others - I mean more than half the Tory front-bench are related to the Queen for god's sake!). In Heath's, Thatcher's, and Mayor's days it was more ordinary people running the party and the country - now the Tory's are 'the old school tie' all over again, and it is Cameron who has made that happen.

Somewhere in the future, after Cameron has got hold of the keys to number 10, George Osbourne will become Prime Minster. This will be in about 15-20 years time but it will happen. It will have nothing to do with merit, or being popular in the country - just being in the position in the party in order to get the leader's job, and the reality of Cameron either stepping aside as PM - or if the Labour Party are the governement the Tory's will simply get sufficient votes for them to win (because everyone will hate Labour by then) and Osbourne will just slide into office. This is what I hate most about politics - politicians knowing how to get into pole-position and then the public votes for them to become PM because they may not like them but they like the alternative (the other party leader) even less.

It's not a few cuts we are talking about here, Keith.

Thankfully, Scotland is Toryproofed and Wales is for the most part of most people's lives- although social security is a big exception to that.

If the English choose to vote for monkeys, they cannot complain if what they get is peanuts.

"the possibility of some kind of equitable society based on the benefits of hard work"

Yeah Reggie, to reiterate Max Tranmere's point what kind of message does an Old Etonian cabal send out in terms of meritocracy ? It's taking the country back 50+ years to the time of Macmillan. Is that what you want? Cos it's what'll happen !

"I mean more than half the Tory front-bench are related to the Queen for god's sake!"

Francis Maude...No relation to the Queen whatsoever
William Hauge...ditto
George Osbourne...ditto
Patrick McLoughlin..ex miner...do the maths
Theresa May....Not even remotely related
Oliver Heald.....ditto
Hugo Squire......ditto
Liam Fox....ditto
Andrew Mitchell..ditto
David Willetts...ditto
I could go on, still never let the truth get in the way of a good story eh Max, NONE of them are related to the Queen, Cameron is Related to Churchill in some spurious way, but as far as I,m aware, Churchill didn't reside at Buckingham Palace, nor was he a member of our Royalty.
Stop Reading the Daily sport.
