As I understand it, the police's own 'rules of engagement' allow
them to be reactive, not proactive. The latter comes under the
heading of common assault. Unfortuantely too many officers seem
to think that a warrant-card allows them to behave with impunity-
and the reaction of successive governments seems to suggest that
they are correct in that assumpttion.

i hope this copper gets banged up then we can see how brave he is when he hasnt got his face covered or a weapon in his hand.i wonder if he thinks he can go around attacking blokes from behind in the shovel and get away with it?i would put his chances at zero.he will be on rule 43 with the nonces for his own protection.hopefully someone catches up with him and dispenses the same kind of justice he dished out

I always believed that, due to the unforgiveable breach of trust,
those in authority who have fallen from grace were supposed to
receive sterner punishment than the norm.
It seems that this precept has rarely, if ever, been applied- which
might go a long way in explaining our current mess.

More likely be in an open prison with X-box, Playstation, Wii, Ipod, plasma screen, Sky HD, a la carte menu etc
