Sam - I know what Max is saying.

And if, as he says, he ISN'T buying the celeb chav-mags, then he is indeed doing exactly as you suggest and is voting with his wallet.

All he's doing is publicly despairing at all those millions who don't do the same, and is scratching his head in bewilderment (as indeed do I) about just what the appeal of these idiot nonebrities can possibly be.

You say just ignore it - that's all well and good, Sam.

But these nonebrities are, in a way, like politicians - you can't always ignore them no matter how much you might want to, because they're there being thrust in your face all the time.

Let me give you an example: Last night, I sat down for a rare venture (for me) into the world of ITV watching.

Within the space of under an hour, they ran THREE trailer-ads for some forthcoming new show of their's "starring" that vacous, silicone-enhanced airhead Jordan, that useless waste of space failed pop singer that she's married to and their three very strange-looking kids with equally strange names.

Something about them moving to America (good riddance!) and their life settling in over there. I don't know all the details, as I hit the mute button once I'd located the remote. But the point is - I couldn't help but be aware of it as I was, to an extent, being force-fed it.

This, I think, is what Max's gripe is.

Because short of getting rid of your TV and radio, never looking inside (or even at the cover of) a newpaper or magazine again and never again leaving the sanctuary of your own four walls, you can't help but be aware (to a greater or lesser degree) of all this shit.

Complaining about it here isn't lining the pockets of Jack Tweed, Jordan, Kerry Katona and all the rest of them - this forum is merely a safety valve for letting off steam about things that piss us off, that's all. Nothing more.

Oh and just as a matter of interest, there was a poll over on Yahoo the other day, and 88% of those who replied said that Parky was spot on with his condemnation of the recent Goody media circus. It just needed someone prominent to come out and tell it like it is, which is exactly what Parky did.

That sounds like the apocryphal poll where 80% of respondents
claim to be Christian- and only 1% actually go to church. Most
of that 88% probably watch all this nonsense avidly, whilst smugly
tut-tutting to themselves about the 'decadent society'.

I heard that this bell-end got sentenced to another 12 weeks in the can today. This was only Channel 4 news at midday. He will be out in 6 weeks, and then back to making more and more money out of that imbecile 'wife' of his's recent death. And, of course, getting loads of respect from vast swathes of our airhead population (quite why I don't know).

I've not seen him say that, Eric, but if he did then I don't believe him. He stated only yesterday: "Sam, I might devote time to it but it is all to slag it off." Is he reading up on this stuff just to have a moan? Borderline narcissism if you ask me.
You say just ignore it - that's all well and good, Sam.
It is. Cheers. I'm proof that it can be done. In fact, I didn't know she was dying until and ex girlfriend popped round and mentioned it.
But these nonebrities are, in a way, like politicians - you can't always ignore them no matter how much you might want to,
Well, I've just explained how easy it is to ignore them. I could be lying for a laugh but I can't see any advantage to myself in doing so. And, anyway, politicians are in the news for good reason: so voters know about the people they vote for. It's not really the same.
Within the space of under an hour, they ran THREE trailer-ads for some forthcoming new show of their's "starring" that vacous, silicone-enhanced airhead Jordan,
Jordan! What a success she became, eh? Multi-millionaire now isn't she? All from a working class background and into the glamour industry too. Why the vitriol? I'm guessing that if she'd have turned to porn and was on this database she'd have been lorded as a god on these boards. She's only a 'vacous' [sic] and an 'airhead' because she was successful. True? I bet there are lots of girls on here who would give their right arm to have the success she got. Would they then be 'airheads'? Come on Eric.
Because short of getting rid of your TV and radio, never looking inside (or even at the cover of) a newpaper or magazine again and never again leaving the sanctuary of your own four walls, you can't help but be aware (to a greater or lesser degree) of all this shit.
Well, I'd beg to differ. I suppose it depends on what tv, newspapers and magazines you are delving into. And if the mere sight of someone on a magazine cover gets you irate then you have issues. Chill out man. It's all good!
Complaining about it here isn't lining the pockets of Jack Tweed, Jordan, Kerry Katona and all the rest of them - this forum is merely a safety valve for letting off steam about things that piss us off, that's all. Nothing more.
I can't agree with you more, Eric. Where would we be without complaints, eh? And so I'm ranting about the ranting too, just to join in with the community !wink!
It just needed someone prominent to come out and tell it like it is, which is exactly what Parky did.
Oh please... Let's not be disingenuous and make out Parky was attacking Jade Goody. I've read the article on the bbc website (note: I chose to click a link with 'Goody' in the title) and it was purely an attack on the media at large. Yes, he called her ignorant and puerile, but that was pretty obvious. His whole point was how a profit-driven media frenzy exploited someone like that. Nothing more.

Oh dear Sam, of course you claim to not know who Jade Goody was or stood for but strangely you then chose to scan Wiki and Google to try and get some background facts to back up your argument on the Goody thread "she wasn't all bad was she really" was your stance - so if you didn't ACTUALLY know anything about her how could you then claim these things ... pot, kettle, black springs to mind old bean.

Sam, I think the world needs a few more people to come out and atttack things that are worthy of attacking. I personally have never ever read an interview with one of those single brancelled morans (Goody, Jordan, Kerry Katona, that dildo who Goody 'married') but I can not avoid them. I have never seen anything they have done on TV either, in terms of features or programmes, but when a story about them appears on the TV news you can't help but see it, or see the start of it anyway. I would hit the mute button as soon as it would appear though. I really believe that if as many people lambasted them as praised them then many of them would disappear. I would like to see them ALL disappear. What these people do is not only of no interest to me but it is fraud aswell, especially when they lie about writing books, that other people have written and arrogantly call themselves 'authors' - yet another area of our day to day lives these arseholes are cheapening.
