Ah, the days of the Raj and the invention of billiards... its a pity the genre cannot be recaptured, as they were truly HILARIOUS ( and often quite cleverly so) films... x

The 'Carry On's made stars of them. All the spin-offs were where
the money came in.
It's a little like US porn girls- many do the movies mainly to keep
their name in the puiblic's mind, enhancing their earning-power on
the far more lucrative stripping/'escorting' circuits.

I've lived in West Kensington [OK, Fulham] and North Kensington
[OK, Ladbroke Grove] and 'genteel poverty' was an unattainable
dream : -) There's South Ken. as well of course [now that's
pricey], but weirdly I've never heard of an East Kensington.

Oh, and I worked with a girl who insisted she lived in 'South
Chelsea' [i.e. Battersea!!]. Yes, she went on to become an
estate-agent.
And Acton has the 'full set' in terms of stations: Central, North,
South, East and West.
[I did geography 'O'-level....]

It's not much cop nowadays- the big dept. stores have gone/mutated.
Good for a stroll through Holland Park, and ogling the foreign tourists.
And this is worth a visit- although I haven't been there since the
refit.
