Sabine,
Porn Gold, published by Faber & Faber, is about the start of the porn business in the UK in the 80s and written by David Hebditch and Nick Anning two respected authors. It is out of print now but your local library will get it for you for research purposes.
Try Googling Porn Gold or Amazon books.

Sabine, you might find some relevant historical stuff over at the Melon Farmers... dig around a bit. !wink!
Also there is quite a good potted history of sex films over at filmsite.org:
(don't forget to click 'next' at the bottom of each page)
and the major productions of note:
should keep you busy for a while.

Is it any wonder that the monkey's confused?

Sabine, go to Wikipedia and look up the history of British porn, when it was all legalised here, and so on. Some on this forum have said before that is was never 'legalised' as such but a Judge saw an EU ruling and kind of permitted it to go on - from about the year 2000.
Certainly a lot of modern porn girls began soon after. Laura Hermansen, who is from Derby, started in 2001 and made (according to the list on this site) 69 hardcore movies. She's retired now but maybe if you could track her down maybe you could interview her for your project. She certainly made a lot of films and, according to a site she used to run, she stated she "loved sex in all forms". No kidding. There was nothing that falls under the heading of sex that didn't go on in her movies. Try and find her, maybe she would be happy to be interviewed.
Someone else who is a prolific star is Poppy Morgan. There is a page on Wikipedia about her and there is a link there to her current website and you could email her. She is also on Facebook. She is from Hull, has made over 200 films, and maybe she would be willing to give an interview to you. She has done other interviews, and there are links to those on the Wikipedia page about her.
I am a big fan of both Laura and Poppy. Try and pursuit it with them (if you can find Laura that is). Let us know on here how you get on.

Your problem is that you've never bothered to find out more about criminology beyond viewings of 'Cracker' and the like. I'm certain that as a discipline Criminology has as much merit as Geography or Archeology. It's true there's an over supply of graduates with criminology degrees relative to the number of opportunities directly related to the discipline, but then that's also true of Geography, Archeology and other subjects.

Here is a post i made a few years ago which may help to give you an insight into a point where British porn may have started but i guess it really started many years before !wink!
Re: History of porn business in the UK?
Criminology touches on things like forensic science and law which I think are absent from the sociology syllabus.

You say 'mish mash', I say 'multi disciplinary'.
