Interestng comments there. I think the way of doing things politically will have changed a lot, and I also think the far-right will be very big by then. This is not something I relish, but it needs commenting on as it is inevitable. The future is scary and interesting aswell. Most recent wars and invasions by the West have been because of oil. When the oil runs out things will change, and international conflicts will have other reasons behind them. Do you remember the film 'The Dogs Of War'? Simon Endean was the man organisng the mercenaries and sending them into the African country (Zangaro) to overthrow the Government there in order to secure the local diamond mining rights for his company. Endean says to Kat Shannon, his chief mercenary, "one day we'll go to war over rice..." That prediction may be true.

One of my favourite films.

I fear the only film coming true will be Mad Max.

Barring a miracle, I won't be.
Thank God.

Unless you were Jewish, gay or otherwise 'non-Aryan'.
Don't be silly, part 2, eh?

"Will"?
They already own large chunks of UK PLC.

1. I think is more accurate than 2 or 3.

Re Islam, Anthony Burgess predicted something scarily similar
long ago. It's a very long piece but well worth reading, even
for the non-specialist because of his uncanny prediction of
Islamic expansionism and the rise of global terrorism.

On 2 and 3, it's my belief that the gradual environmental and
distributional collapses will trigger a global conflict that
will make the Black Death look like a tea-party.

Both they, and us, will be screwed.

Any odds on cold fusion in the next 20 years?

That's my bet, too. And even for water-resources.
'Hydraulic despotism' will become a regular rather than an occasional
instrument of policy.

Not the latter two, I suspect; the high technology of those two
depended on very high energy-consumption. 'MM' was a rough
extrapolation; the others merey entertaining cacotopias.

Too late; already happening : -)
