Mixing caffeine and alcohol. A lethal combination?

I'm hitting the pub tonight and am keen to have a session of beer. I think it's ok to do that twice a week, Friday and Saturday, and then for the midweek sesh take it easy and have maybe 3, and some soft drinks too. I know some people who are out every night and neck about 7 or 8 pints each time. My local pub has some regulars who are there EVERY day. I think they are heading for an early grave.

I wouldn't recommend that.
It's a great way of developing intestinal varices, and the odd
duodenal ulcer.
