I dont think there is such a thing as running out of ideas.
I wouldnt mind Hollywood making some interesting stories that didnt involve some off duty cop flying an F15 Harrier and launching police cars into helicopters (though I did enjoy Die Hard 4 which was a bit overblown for the series in my opinion )
Some remakes have been pretty good and worhtwhile, like the Texas Chainsaw Massacre and the recent Friday The 13th. ( inever saw a movie in that series until I saw the remake and remakes are made only because a lot of todays audiences regard the classics (cult or otherwise) as being old whichis why they are remade.
I thought Scorceses remake of Cape Fear was great.
